a pillow plan for our living room

Monday, March 4

Good morning!  I hope you had a great weekend.  Thank you for all of the kind comments from our house photo shoot with Tracy.  As you'll see from the pictures in this post, I'm in desperate need for her to take shots of our living room, but it's just not ready yet.

I will spare you my list of things still to do, but flooring is one of the obvious problems.  Here is how everything looks now.  There are a few changes since these pictures were taken, but you get the general idea.

Today I'm focused on making a plan for the pillows.  I'm a believer that lighting and fabrics are one of the most important elements in your space.  They really set the tone for your entire room.
Here is what I'm thinking:

These would be on our green velvet sofa:

This mix for our white sofa:

And here is how it all looks together.
I've had people ask me to label my style in the past and I was never able to put my finger on it.  But now, I believe I've come to the conclusion that I'm "eclectic-vintage-prep".

I know not everyone enjoys this much pattern in a room, but color and pattern actually feed my soul.  I'm not trying to be dramatic, that's just the truth!  Would you like a colorful pillow mix in your home?

love the mix on the green sofa--especially that pretty floral! I seem to be drawn to florals even more than usual lately.

You're so good to plan it out on paper. Not so many surprises that way. :)

Love love love it!! I just purchased the Schumacher Chenonceau pillows for my family room redo! I agree pillows/fabric can truly make a room step up a notch. You and I are using somewhat the same color pallet, minus the pink, which could slip into my mix quite easily for Spring. I once said I am a grown-up preppy gal. So I call it Classic prep with a twist!!
Happy Monday,
Kathysue

BTW: Here is the post that shows my pillow mix if you are interested....http://goodlifeofdesign.blogspot.com/2013/02/look-what-followed-me-home-from-ikea.html

I love your picks, and eclectic vintage prep sounds perfect! Oh, and if you want to send me your castoff Dwell Peacock pillows, which I have loved and been meaning to replicate for ages, that would be perfect too :)

How did I miss this post?? This looks so fantastic. I hear you on pattern. Although, I must admit, I am going for less as I get older (I think it's from the chaos of teenagers -- maybe I need more calm!)
