On Friday I shared a few gorgeous images of royal blue velvet. That may have been a mistake, because I don't think anything I show you now will compare, but none the less, I'm pressing on with my reveal. :-)
Let's start with how our living room looked after we moved in to our new house and added lighting to the ceiling. This picture has too many "before" pieces to list. But what I really want you to notice are the window coverings. *Please know, I don't think that they were the worst option on the planet.* Like most elements in our home, they weren't horrible they just weren't me.
When we changed the wall color we removed the vertical blinds so the holes could be patched. I still wasn't exactly sure what fabric I wanted for the windows, and it was summer time,
so I didn't feel the urgency to decide. Plus, we were paying for all the non-sexy changes,
like new electrical work and lighting in every room.
Eventually winter arrived and we needed something for extra warmth, not to mention privacy. Then I saw West Elm having a sale on their velvet panels. Bam. That was it.
Here is our slider now.
Thank you for checking out our latest addition to the living room.
Today is my oldest son's 7th birthday, so we're taking it easy, sledding with friends, and going out to dinner. Cheers to making memories with our babies!

It looks great Abby! I love the color of those panels against the wall color!
Blue velvet is so decadent! The room is coming together beautifully!
Beautiful!! They add some great length to the room where they are placed. Great job!
That looks fantastic! It's amazing how the curtains make the room feel so much warmer & richer - not only from the velvet itself, but also the floor to ceiling length :)
Great job, Abby!!
I also have a pair of blue velvet drapes. They give the room a warm, elegant feel. I'm sure you will enjoy yours. They look great in your room.
I love, love, love the drapes!! It's amazing how hanging the panels up to the ceiling really draws your eye up. The ceilings appear higher! Great job and happy birthday to your son! :)
Oooh I like 'em!!! They really do make the ceiling look so much taller!
Abby I love what you have accomplished so beautifully!! The panels are perfect!! The pillows on the yellow sofa are also a favorite.

Those are so pretty! Love that you hung them so high. But how will you feel about velvet window panels once spring comes? Will you change them out to a navy linen?
Happy Birthday to your oldest!
Really beautiful Abby! And those last two photos of the before and after is really drastic. I'm sure you've looked at them a lot but the differences are really something - the "new" look you've given to that room is very pretty and sophisticated.
This room is making such a dramatic transformation and it's so you. The drapes look amazing. Someone else said "decadent" and that's such a great description. You are pulling this room together in such a seemingly effortless manner. Love it, Abby!
It looks great! We had the same problem...you'd think there would be more choices for a door this size. I ended up ordering a custom curtain from an Etsy shop, and love it!
Really warms it up. Looks fab.
Love the navy velvet in this room Abby! The panels look fabulous hung long and high as well, it really adds to the space.
